How to Manage Energy on Bitcoin.me (DEX): Add, Enable Rewards, and Remove

The Energy feature on the Bitcoin.me DEX allows you to lock specific tokens (like KFI) to increase your account’s energy capacity and earn weekly rewards. By creating an energy position (often referred to as a “Battery Cell”), your tokens are converted into a locked asset (like XKFI) for a chosen duration.

Follow this guide to learn how to add energy, enable your rewards, and eventually remove your position when you are ready to unlock your tokens.

Part 1: How to Get Energy (Create a Battery Cell)

Prerequisite: Ensure your Klever Extension is connected and holds the token you wish to lock (e.g., KFI), plus a small amount of KLV for network fees.

1. Navigate to Energy: On the top navigation bar of the Bitcoin.me DEX, click on the “Energy” button.

   

2. Initiate a New Position: On the Energy dashboard, look under the “Battery Cells” section and click the orange “+ Add” button.

   

3. Select Token and Amount: On the “Create a new energy position” page:

   • Select the token you want to lock (e.g., KFI).

   • Scroll down to Deposit Amount and enter the amount you wish to lock. You can type it manually or use the percentage buttons (25%, 50%, 75%, or MAX).

     

4. Select Charge (Lock Period): Scroll down to the Select charge section. Choose your preferred locking period. The longer you lock your tokens, the higher your energy charge (e.g., ~25% for 1 year, ~50% for 2 years, ~100% for 4 years).

   

5. Confirm and Increase Energy: Review your position details (Lock date, Energy, Account charge). Once ready, click the orange “Increase Energy” button at the bottom.

6. Sign the Transaction: Your Klever Extension will pop up. Review the Kapp and Bandwidth fees, and click “Sign” to authorize the contract.

Part 2: How to Enable Energy Rewards

Once you have added energy, you must manually activate your weekly rewards from your Portfolio.

1. Go to Portfolio: Click the “Portfolio” button on the top navigation bar.

   

2. Enable Rewards: On the right side of your Portfolio dashboard, locate the black box that says “Enable Energy Rewards” (Starting collect weekly rewards). Click the pink/orange “Enable” button inside that box.

   

3. Sign the Transaction: Your Klever Extension will prompt you again. Enter your password if required, review the contract details, and click “Sign”.

4. Wait for Confirmation: A “Processing Transaction” notification will appear. Once confirmed by the blockchain, your rewards will be successfully activated!

Part 3: How to Remove Energy and Unlock Tokens

When your lock period expires or if you decide to initiate an unlock, you can remove your Battery Cell.
Important Note: As stated on the platform, once you request an unlock, there is a waiting period. You will be able to claim your unlocked tokens in your Portfolio approximately 10 to 11 days after requesting the removal.*

1. Return to Energy: Navigate back to the “Energy” page from the top menu.

   

2. Locate Your Battery Cell: Scroll down to the “Battery Cells” list where your active positions are displayed.

3. Open Options: Click the three-dot menu icon (⋮) on the far right side of the specific energy position you want to unlock.

4. Remove Position: Click “Remove” from the small dropdown menu.

   

5. Confirm: Sign the subsequent transaction in your Klever Extension to finalize the removal request. After the 10-11 day waiting period, your tokens will be fully unlocked and available to claim in your Portfolio!
